What is the one thing you could have done differently in your notary business?

Hey y’all! I wanted to start a real discussion that can actually help somebody.

Whether you’re brand new, still learning, already booked and busy, or rebuilding your notary business from the ground up, we all have something we had to learn the hard way.

So let’s talk about it…

What’s one thing you wish somebody had told you before you started your notary business?

It can be about pricing, marketing, mobile notary work, loan signings, RON, apostille work, difficult clients, slow seasons, supplies, mentorship, confidence, or anything you had to figure out on your own.

Drop your advice below because your experience may be the exact thing that helps another notary avoid a mistake, gain confidence, or keep going.

Let’s learn from each other, support each other, and grow together.

Happy Stamping!

Welcome to the community, @SimplyUnique! What a great question to kick things off!

One thing I would have done differently early on: built my online presence and directory listing from day one. So many notaries wait until they’re already struggling to get clients before they think about visibility. Having a complete, professional profile on a directory like Notary Lotus from the very beginning can make a huge difference in how quickly potential clients find you.

I’d also say: invest in your network early. Connect with real estate agents, signing services, and other notaries in your area. Those relationships can bring referrals long-term.

What about everyone else? We’d love to hear your lessons learned!
